*Currently in research and development
In 2016 an as yet unnamed trilogy of lens-based performance works began with Hysteria—which looked at trauma and manifestations of distress.
Part two, Affliction (working title) which is currently in development, will respond to the history of state and medically sanctioned "cures" for homosexual feelings and desire—which continued well past the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality 50 years ago. Arrests actually increased during this period, and "curing" queerness was often offered to "criminals" as an alternative to a prison term.
R&D is supported by an award from the Arts Council of Ireland's Artist in the Community Scheme managed by Create, the national development agency for collaborative arts.
Maurice Kelliher will collaborate with members of LGBT+ scientist network House of STEM, who will act as researchers / dramaturgs during this research phase.
